1.9:1
Common Aliases: DCI, DCI Full, 1.9:1, 1.89:1, 17x9
DCI 1.9:1 emerged out of the 2005 Digital Cinema System Specification and has become commonplace for digital cinema as theatrical displays as well as professional monitors are part of the workflow ecosystem. In modern times also widely known as 17:9 It shares the same maximum vertical resolution landmarks of 16x9, but is actually a wider screen format. When thinking of 2K, 4K, and 8K this is where you'll find those actual resolution standards. The Full DCI frame is an aspect ratio used by many digital cinema cameras as well as it serves not only a well balanced widescreen ratio, but also a great platform for various aspect ratio extractions from the Full DCI frame.
